Supervision in the North of Edinburgh

I offer supervision for Counsellors or other Professions ( e.g. health care staff, teachers, clinicians). If you are qualified or in training I welcome you equally.
I aim to offer a safe, empathic, non judgemental space to use exactly how you need to. This may include sharing and reflecting on your work; developing an ethical practice that is unique to you or looking at your self care.
I take pride in developing trusting relationships and have found Supervision to be an inspiring, supportive space where we can learn together, irrespective of your background, qualification or stage of training.

I have a Certificate in Person Centred Counselling Supervision from Aberdeen University and it is the principles of Person Centred Theory that inform my work.
I work from a peaceful, purpose built counselling room in my garden and can offer times between 8am and 8pm weekdays. I am also able to meet via skype.
If you would like to get in touch to discuss this further, please do-there is no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right.

My hourly rate is £50, or £70 for an hour and a half. I offer Counsellors in training an hourly rate of £40.
I offer an initial meeting, with no obligation, for £30 for 1 hour.

Supervisee Feedback:

"It's heart warming to realise that I have had Susan as my supervisor since 2013 to this day. This period covered different stages of my career development, such as my doctoral training and later my private practice in the UK and now abroad. Susan has added unquestionable value to my therapeutic work by offering me supportive insights and by looking after both my clients and myself personally. I find that Susan's approach has helped us create a supervision relationship that is respectful, considerate and supportive. Also, I am pleased that through delivering online supervision, Susan has helped me to continue to receive quality professional support from abroad. Our sessions have become a precious time for reflection on my work and on any themes that I look forward to bring up and discuss.

"Working with Susan has been invaluable to my learning and development as a fledgling counsellor, I couldn't have asked for a better Supervisor to accompany on my journey. Her gentle, warm and considered approach, alongside her wealth of experience, has offered me a safe and supportive place to bring myself and my client work, as I explored and considered my thoughts, clunkiness and processes. Susan’s honesty and ability to gently challenge has helped me to trust in my own growing skills and confidence as a professional."

"My experience of Susan as a supervisor has been of a gentle, thoughtful and supportive presence. Susan encourages me to explore my competencies, pursue the work and training opportunities I am interested in, and to view my practice and client work from different angles. Working with Susan as my supervisor has allowed me to reflect on my client work in a safe, supportive environment with an experienced and thoughtful fellow therapist."

"Susan is consistently caring and supportive in our supervision relationship. I have no fear and can bring any aspect of my work or the personal events in my life that are affecting my ability to counsel. We explore these together which always leaves me feeling equal to her."

Person Centre Counsellor 2017

"I always found the thought of supervision to be scary and something to avoid. Thankfully Susan understood this and it has now become a vital( non scary!) part of my counselling practice.
