I have worked alongside people with mental health issues since 1989, initially in my role as a Psychiatric Nurse. My experience included substance misuse, nursing within a prison, and a hospice for people with HIV. The personal aim of my work in all of these areas was to ensure a non judgmental, high level of care to people in disadvantaged situations.
In 2003 I commenced my Counselling training and alongside this I was part of a Social Work Team working with people who were living with HIV and/or Hepatitis. An additional area of expertise has been working with The University of Edinburgh mentoring students experiencing mental ill health.
My counselling experience has included working with children in primary schools, with agencies in the voluntary sector for short and longer term counselling, for the NHS in a Psychological Therapies Team and 11 years in private practise seeing clients from all walks of life bringing a huge variety of issues.
Presently I work solely as a Counsellor and Supervisor in Private Practise in the North of Edinburgh. My present counselling work also includes seeing clients via Employment Assistance Programmes and for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.
